Abstract:

Of all the major inventions in the 20'' century, a few have had the most profound effect than that of the television [J}. It has become one of the major sources of information and entertainment for all. The television signal may be received through an antenna or through a cable. Unluckily, not all that can be seen on TV today is appropriate for all of its viewers, especially children. With this in mind, a need to come up with a channel lock for analog televisions arise since not everyone can afford new televisions that incorporate this new feature in them. The channel lock is implemented using a ZiLOG Z86E40 microcontroller connected to an RF modulator that controls which input is displayed on the television and to a cable television converter which lets the microcontroller know what channel is being viewed by the user. Also, a separate remote control unit and remote control decoder unit using PJC/6F84 microcontroller are used to let the user program the microcontroller.
