What Money Can't Buy: Family Income and Children's Life Chances

Abstract:

The book authored by Susan Mayer, Associate Professor of the Graduate School, University of Chicago, tries to entertain the idea at the same time confirm the reality of poverty it’s immediate address and some erroneous approach for its alleviation. Mayer in her position tries to negate the impact of welfare reform in this area. She believes that state welfare acts has no direct hand in the alleviation of the people’s poverty. In effect, she believes that welfare should be applied and/or implemented on a case to case basis according to regional needs.
