The field of Medicine is an ever-evolving science. New knowledge and information continue to crop up almost every minute of the day. Innovations in diagnosis, treatment, prevention of illnesses and, maintenance of well-being are highly dependent on these newfangled notions that we, as medical practitioners, are trying to keep abreast with. These new information are products of continued research, not only by laboratory researchers but in the majority of instances, by the clinicians themselves.
Research is now widely recognized in the field of Medicine as equally important and relevant as training new physicians and rendering appropriate services to our patients. Institutions worldwide, whether involved in training, service or both, have already included research in their Mission-Vision. Medical Societies, here and abroad, have given strong priority on the necessity of research for the professionalization of the training and services that we render to our trainees and patients, respectively.
