Abstract:

This study aims to determine the factors affecting Paulinian nursing students’ interest in nursing as a career in line with decreasing number of enrollees in the nursing program. The researchers conducted a survey with randomly selected third and fourth year nursing students of St. Paul University Quezon City and St. Paul University Manila. The respondents were asked to rate the survey questions from 1 to 4 in terms of level of significance. In analyzing and interpreting the survey results, the researchers were able to determine reasons of the students and the different influences for taking up nursing as well as their problems encountered in academics, related learning experience or duty, personal problems and extra-curricular activities. Lastly, the researchers obtained the recommendations and suggestions from the respondents in order to strengthen the nursing program.
