Abstract:

This study aimed to develop a device that reduces and monitors energy consumption. This power consumption reducer is composed of power factor circuit, power analyzer module, keypad, switching circuit,

GSM module, Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), and microcontrollers which aid the consumers in reducing and keeping track their electric consumption. The entire device, with its individual features, was tested for its efficiency. Specifically, this design project employed qualitative and quantitative research method to assess the performance of the device through the expertise of 20 respondents who included 10 house owners, 6 establishment owners and 4 engineering faculty of theUniversity of the Immaculate Conception. Findings revealed that the device is slightly effective in reducing the energy consumption while the other features of the device function well. Nevertheless, certain factors must be considered in the development of the device to maximize its potential.
