LEVEL OF UTILIZATION OF NURSING INFORMATICS TO NURSING MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS IN THE WARD OF SELECTED PRIVATE HOSPITALS IN LAGUNA

Abstract:

The study aimed to determine the level of utilization of nursing informatics to nursing management functions in the ward of selected private hospitals in Laguna. The study utilized a survey questionnaire which is divided into two parts. The first part is the socio-demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age and gender, while the second part is intended to identify the level of utilization of nursing informatics to nursing management functions in the ward. Results revealed that there is a significant difference among the selected private hospitals in Laguna in their use of nursing informatics in terms of leading. It was shown that the staff nurses in these hospitals were able to carry out doctor’s orders, assignment, and directions that enabled them to understand what are expected from them. The use of nursing informatics, therefore, established good communication among the members of the healthcare teams. It was also revealed that there is a significant difference in the use of nursing informatics among the selected private hospitals in Laguna. The study recommended that similar studies should be conducted to other hospital departments that require rapid nursing management and bigger number of respondents should be involved to get more accurate results.
