Abstract:

After reading Buenaventura S. Medina Jr.’s Huling Himagsik, I felt disgusted, felt the need, as a woman, to “revolt” againts Medina’s unequal treatment of male and female characters in his novel. To prove that there is no bias on my part, I decided to study and critique the female and male characters in the novel using the reading as a woman theory. This paper is focused on the study of both the female and the male characters in the novel Huling Himagsik. It includes my very own reactions and opinions as a woman, after reading the award-winning novel of an award-winning writer, Buenaventura S. Medina Jr.
