The phenomenon of mixing Tagalog and English elements within the 8~me sentence or within the same turn of speaking has been receiving a lot of attention lately from observers of the Philippine linguistic scene. The more excitable among them have condemned Tagalog-English switching as a mutilation of both Tagalog and English, at the same time that they hope that the barbarism will somehow go away. The more phlegmatic have accepted it as a fact of life and just wonder where it will all end. Meanwhile, the students of language have taken the phenomenon for what it is, as a source of language data, and have proceeded to analyze the data.
