Bacterial blight (BB) caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. Oryzae (Xoo) is an economically important bacterial disease (Mew 1987). Effective control techniques need to be developed to improve crop production in the country. The spread of BB occurs through plant debris, weeds, water, and seed. Hence, early detection and identification of the pathogen are crucial in an integrated disease management program. This can be done through seed health testing and plant quarantine.
