Effects of Alternative Therapeutic Intervention in Education on Misbehavior Among High School Students of Trinity University of Asia

Fernando C. Carandang

Abstract:

This study determined the effect of Alternative Therapeutic Intervention in Education (ATIE) on the misbehavior of senior high school students of Trinity University of Asia. The Alternative Therapeutic Intervention in Education Program was developed by Dr. Gabriel Uriarte as an alternative model in education to prevent misbehavior and promote wholesome behavior among students.

The Pre-test Post-test Control Group Design was used in the experimental study. The experimental group was subjected to nine sessions of ATIE, while the control group was given the usual counseling service. The Devereux Adolescent Behavior Rating Scale (DABRS) and the Disruptive Behavior Checklist (DBC) were administered to determine the level of misbehavior of the 30 senior high school students before and after intervention. Mann-Whitney U-test (a non parametric test for independent groups) and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks T Test (a non parametric test for dependent groups) were used to determine significant results.

The study showed that there is no significant effect of the ATIE on the behavior of the respondents.
