Abstract:

In the relatively short span for years since Vatican II came to a close, the influence of this historical gathering has made itself felt in all parts of the world among the most diverse of peoples, and in the most global of issues. The sixteen official documents that emanated from the four sessions have provided rich food for thought and discussion. The spirit of aggiornamento and renewal has provided a basis for critical re-assessment of a broad scope of values, even those hitherto thought to be sacrosanct.
