This study was conducted to improve the current discharge system of Aboitiz Power Renewables Inc., specifically, to prevent the overflowing of excess water in the blow down pit and to determine the new pump and pipe size to be used. The study was conducted in Mak-Ban Geothermal Power Plant in Brgy. Bitin, Bay, Laguna, currently owned by Aboitiz Power Renewables Inc.. The researchers visited the location of the blow down pit to determine the cause of the overflowing of the excess water in the blow down pit and used the data gathered from the company. The researchers came up with three alternative solutions, namely, Alternative 1: installation of additional submersible pump, Alternative 2: replacement of submersible pump to single high capacity centrifugal pump, and Alternative 3: replacement of submersible pump to two centrifugal pumps which may help to improve the current discharge system of Aboitiz Power Renewables Inc. Based on the study, the researchers recommended the use of the second alternative.
