Level of Awareness on Complementary Protein Intake Among Vegetarians in Davao City for the A.Y. 2011-2012

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of awareness on complementary protein among vegetarians. The respondents of the study were 46 vegetarians in Davao City. They were given survey questionnaires in which they had to answer Yes or No to each of the items. The importance of the study is to promote awareness about complementary protein among vegetarians to provide them knowledge on balanced diet. Moreover, this awareness is beneficial to the people especially the vegetarians to guide them as they acquire their daily protein requirement. The survey assessed the level of awareness on complementary protein of vegetarians here in Davao City. Findings of the study stated that in general, the respondents are aware about complementary protein. Moreover, the data showed that most of the respondents normal nutritional status. Moreover, vegetarians’ eating lifestyle affect their nutritional status. It is recommended that there should be a further research on the level of awareness on complementary protein among the different diets among vegetarians here in Davao City. Moreover, it is suggested that there should be a nutrition education in the community to educate people on how to be healthy, whether they are vegetarians or not.
