Descriptive Study of the Impacts of Tourism in Hotel Industry of Davao City

Abstract:

The purpose of the study was to determine the impact of tourism in the hotel industry of Davao City. The respondents of the study were the owners/managers of the established hotels of Davao City. Each respondent was given a survey questionnaire where the responses could be strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree or strongly disagree. The importance of the study is to promote awareness about tourism in Davao City being one of the largest and dynamically developing cities. Its high growth and development rates, considerable volumes of foreign currency in-flows, infrastructure and introduction of new management and educational experience enormously affect various sectors of economy; thus, positively employed to contributed to the hotel industry in general. The survey correlated the impact of tourism in the hotel industry of Davao City. Findings revealed that tourism promotions, initiatives and activities have high degree of relationship to the hotel industry. Moreover, it is beneficial for the people of Davao City to promote more attractions and infrastructure as well as generate new employment opportunities. Based on the results, the researcher concluded that the tourism impacts in the hotel industry. Therefore it is very important consider this in the state as well as regional and community planning for economic development through the promotion of hotel industry in the city.
