Jannie Jean D Medida

Abstract:

This quantitative study employed descriptive correlational design. This aimed to investigate the influence of utilization of language websites to the grammatical competence of 161 officially enrolled grade 11 students who were selected through stratified random sampling. An adopted questionnaire for utilization of language websites determined the extent of utilization in terms of language forum, language blogging and language journal and another validated researcher-made-grammatical-competence-questionnaire which was used to determine the level of the respondents’ grammatical competence such as vocabulary, syntax, phonology and morphology. The result showed a moderate use of language websites in terms of language forum, language blog and language journal. Moreover, the level of grammatical competence of the students was also moderate. Using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), the result showed a significant difference in the level of grammatical competence of the students when grouped by section. Furthermore, when the variables were tested using regression analysis, the independent variable which was the utilization of language websites had significant influence to the dependent variable which was the grammatical competence.
