Abstract:

The integration of technology continues to increase as the educational system is challenged amidst the endeavors expressed in the traditional philosophy and conventional approaches. While there are many opportunities for the use of different technologies in classroom instructions, there is a need to better understand how effective the digital game-based learning is when integrated to classroom instruction. This study investigated the effectiveness of digital game-based learning on mathematics achievement of students. The respondents of the study were the two sections of grade six students in one of the schools in Davao City. Each section composed of 44 students. The experimental group received digital game-based learning as innovative approach while the control group was taught using the conventional approach. A researcher-made test was given to both groups before and after the experiment. Results revealed that there was a significant difference in the mean gain scores between the experimental and control group. Thus, the students in experimental group performed better than the control group. The results imply that the digital game-based learning can help the students improve their mathematics achievement specifically in integers.
