Abstract:

It is the responsibility of every Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to ensure that their graduates are employable. Thus, this study was conducted to primarily determine the employability of the Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEED) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) graduates of Saint Michael College of Caraga in S.Y. 2012-2016. This study is anchored on the Human Capital Theory in Education by Gillies (2017). The researchers used a descriptive method in this study. Data were gathered through survey questionnaires. There was a total of 111 (88%) participated in the study out of 126 respondents. The results of the study revealed that the majority of the graduates are employed considering the different competencies learned by the graduates during their college. Furthermore, it was also revealed that ICT Skills are the skills graduates found most useful in their present job, which means that most companies today require a degree of technology skills. However, English Language Proficiency Skills were found by the graduates as less useful in their present job. Therefore, the Administration should continue improving its facilities for the students. They must continually aspire for graduates to be provided with relevant and effective teacher education training to escalate their employment prospects after graduation.
