TECHNOLOGICAL PEDAGOGICAL AND CONTENT KNOWLEDGE (TPACK) OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS IN RELATION TO TEACHING PERFORMANCE

Abstract:

Teachers of 21st century are trained in the use of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK). TPACK is an essential part of the educational system today as it combines the growing demand for modern technology in the classroom. This study determined the technological pedagogical knowledge of public junior high school teachers. It also established significant relationship between the teachers’ TPACK and their teaching performance. Descriptivecorrelational design and qualitative method were utilized in gathering the data from 140 grade 10 teachers of the two districts of Bukidnon. Data of the study were generated using survey questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Findings revealed that teachers’ assessment showed that they were good in all items of Content, Pedagogy, Technology, Technological Pedagogical, Technological Content, Pedagogical Content and Technological Pedagogical Content. The teachers’ overall teaching performance, as revealed by their IPCRF rating was very satisfactory. Furthermore, all domains under TPACK revealed to have positive correlation with the teaching performance. This study concludes that TPACK is related to effective teaching and learning process. Thus, TPACK concerns should be addressed to improve teaching performance.
