This study is conducted to systematically review the literature available on Industry 4.0 as it relates to the academic sector. Findings suggest that there should be a continuum or convergence between the industry and the academic sector relative to the vision that is Industry 4.0. As the industry gears up for the fourth industrial revolution leading to the creation of ‘smart factories,’ the academe must prepare quality graduates with attributes (skills, competencies, and values) ready for Industry 4.0, including critical thinking, a sense of decentralized decision making, contextual leadership, and ICT expertise. Recommendations include related studies that would further define preparations for Industry 4.0 and policy innovations that will sustain its existence.
