Abstract:

The main objective of this study was to explore and investigate the lived experiences, coping mechanisms, and insights learned by elementary school teachers on the barriers they have encountered in the implementation of distance learning. A qualitative approach to phenomenological research design from ten teachers of elementary school was coded and presented. Three themes in figure three were mentioned by the ten (10) selected teachers of Malita, North District, who were the chosen participant for a virtual interview. The themes mentioned in figure three were the barriers encountered by the elementary school teachers in the implementation of distance learning which included limited technical experience, poor internet connectivity and resistance to change. Meanwhile, figure four themes described by the teachers as coping mechanisms that included positive well-being, poor internet connectivity and resistance to change. These were the themes observed during the discussion and were described by the respondents. Through their lived experiences and coping strategies, we generate new knowledge in handling the barriers in distance learning. Lastly, the educational insights learned from the experiences of the teachers that cited equity and inclusion were presented in the distance learning setup, independent learning and equipping teachers of technological competence. These were the themes generated as insights of elementary school teachers regarding their experiences in the implementation of distance learning
