Abstract:

The study is aimed to analyze the contextual and textual of Gloc-9’s selected songs in which the analysis of the contextual considers the form, period of history and social problems reflected on the songs, while textual is the type of language, rhyme, meter and beat of selected songs. This study also creates activities that can be used when it is taught to students. The researcher used descriptive content analysis that focuses on the textual and contextual of Gloc-9’s selected songs. There are ten (10) teachers selected for the focused group discussion. The study found that the songs formed were from the composer’s society. The songs can be a great help to inform the audience about the events in their environment. Selected songs made use of slang, dialects, national and literary levels; there is rhyme but is free. And with the same beat 4/4 and dual 2/4 but the 4/4 beat is dominant. From the suggested activities performed, the Daily Teaching Record for teaching the songs “Hari ng Tondo” and “Upuan” were created.
