WELLNESS LEVEL AND QUALITY OF WORK-LIFE OF PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS: BASIS FOR FITNESS PROGRAM

Abstract:

This study investigated on the wellness level (WL) and quality of work-life (QWL) of the teachers as basis for fitness program, participated by the teachers in the public secondary school of the Division of Cagayan de Oro City of School Year 2018-2019. The study made used of descriptive-correlational research design which employs method of analyzing correlation between multiple variables. There were two hundred seventy teacher-respondents. Wellness level indicators consist of physical activities, health, stress management, social competence, emotional state, and intellectual state. Further, the quality of worklife of the respondents were also examined in terms of fair and appropriate salary, working conditions, the use of capacities at work, opportunities that one has in work, social integration, space that work occupy in life, social relevance and importance of work and constitutionalism at work. Findings of the study revealed that there is a significant relationship of wellness level and quality of work-life of the respondents. It was found out that to achieve a substantial quality of work-life, the basic psychological needs must be fulfilled and satisfied. Quality of work-life is interrelated and has a series of effects in relation to wellness level of the respondents. This study recommends fitness program and social integration activities that will help strengthen and intensified respondent’s wellness level and quality of worklife.
