Employee’s Motivation, Work Performance, and Client’s Perception in the Accounting Department of the Provincial Government of Palawan, Philippines

Abstract:

This study aims to determine employee motivation, work performance, and client perception in the accounting department of the Palawan Provincial Government. Specifically, it identifies the employees’ motivational factors, the employees’ work performance, and the client’s perceptions of the employee’s work performance. The study likewise analyzes the significant relationship between the demographic profile of the employees and the motivational factors. It analyzes the significant relationship between work performance by the employees and the perception of their clients about the work performance of the employees. Finally, identify the issues and concerns of the employees and clients. The descriptive correlation method was used. The data were analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, Likert scale, t-test, and Pearson r. The intrinsic motivation factor of the employees is fairness in treatment at the workplace. Whereas the extrinsic motivation factor is safe working at their workplace. The work performance provided by the employees is generally performing well in their jobs in terms of professionalism, ethics, operating procedures, and promptness of service. The perception of their clients about the work performance of the employees is very high. This is evident in the very high ratings for all categories of work performance, including promptness of service, operating procedures, communication, accuracy and attention to detail, professionalism and ethics, and problem-solving and assistance. Furthermore, the results revealed no significant relationship between the work performance provided by employees and their client’s perception of the employee’s work performance. The findings revealed that some of the employees’ issues and concerns are training and lack of office equipment. At the same time, some of the clients’ issue and concern is the automation of repetitive tasks.
