Abstract:

This qualitative phenomenology research aimed to explore the lived experiences of mothers in the Philippines who had children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Semi structured interviews were conducted with 7 Filipino mothers. The interviews were audio recorded and analyzed using Thematic Analysis. Seven major themes discovered through participant responses are the following: Response to the Challenged At Hand, Spirituality, Keeping Up With Life, Unfavorable Outcomes, Impact On Personal Life, Hope and Stigma.
