Spotlighting Stakeholders and Actors Involved in Implementing Inclusive Education in Nigeria: A Systematic Review of Literature

Abstract:
Inclusive education is a developmental strategy which aims to meet the educational
requirements of all kids, teens, and adults while putting a special emphasis on those
who are most at risk of marginalization and exclusion. Therefore, the importance of
inclusive education, especially for kids with special needs, cannot be overstated. This
article provides a systematic literature review, analyzing previous articles on
stakeholders’ involvement in the implementation of inclusive education in Nigeria. The
results of the systematic literature review highlight a serious knowledge gap by exposing
the dearth of study on this important subject. In addition to this, despite the crucial roles
played by various stakeholders, very little focus is placed on the part of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in implementing inclusive education in Nigeria. The
review builds on these findings and recommends that further research be carried out on
stakeholders’ involvement in the implementation of inclusive education in Nigeria, with
more focus on roles of non-governmental organizations and civil society groups.
