Philippine Journal Accreditation Service (JAS) of the Commission on Higher Education: Ensuring Quality in Higher Education Publication Towards Internationalization

Roberto N. Padua

Discipline: Education

Abstract:

The paper examines the Journal accreditation process adopted by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education and analyses the results of the accreditation process for three years: 2009, 2010, and 2011. Results revealed that less than 10% of all journals submitted for accreditation through the CHED-JAS have marginally satisfied the criteria set by the review Board. The main observations made by the review Board on the journals which did not satisfy the accreditation criteria focused on the absence of a good refereeing system and the qualifications of the Editorial Boards.
