Abstract:

This study aimed to determine the relationship between translanguaging (TL) and Learning engagement (LE) through the convergent-parallel approach of a mixed methods study. 214 students were randomly selected for the quantitative and 10 for the qualitative: five (5) for in-depth interviews and five (5) for focus group discussions, which were purposefully selected. The results revealed a correlation between translanguaging and learning engagement among English major students in Kapalong College of Agriculture, Sciences, and Technology. In addition, the study's results showed different experiences, coping mechanisms, and insights of the selected English major students regarding the utilization of translanguaging and its impact on their learning engagement. On the data integration, data found that both quantitative and qualitative are merging, hence, the nature of data integration of both phases are connecting and confirming. Lastly, the findings informed educators that the learning atmosphere must mold an environment of learning that is friendly and open to the utilization of the students' full linguistic repertoire.
