Learning Engagement As Correlates To Academic Performance In An Online Distance Learning

Abstract:
This study aimed to determine the relationship between the academic achievement and the pupil’s learning engagement of Grade IV pupils at Santiago Elementary School, General Trias, Cavite City. The researcher used descriptive research as it is seen beneficial in answering the objectives of the study.
The results of the study revealed that the pupil-respondents agreed that cognitive, behavioural and emotional engagements were highly manifested during the online distance learning. Academic achievement of the Grade IV Pupils was highly and significantly related to their cognitive, behavioral and emotional engagements during online distance learning. Moreover, the level of engagements of the Grade IV Pupil-respondents such as cognitive, behavioural and emotional have high significant relationships when compared according to their ages and sexes.
The researcher recommended an action plan to further enhance the pupil’s engagement during online class. Furthermore, recommendations also addressed to the teachers, parents and to the students as they are the significant people that needs to be addressed in this study.
