Rhonalyn R. Licup
Discipline: Education
Abstract:
The study identified the parental engagement practices in early childhood learning at Balik
Barangay Manibaug Pasig Elementary School for the school year 2023 - 2024. This study used
quantitative descriptive research design employing a questionnaire adapted from the research
study conducted by Lawson (2017). Part I of the survey instruments deals with the demographic
profile of the respondents; Part II on the various dimensions of parental engagement in
kindergarten education, such as parenting, communicating, volunteering, facilitating learning at
home, participating in decision-making processes, and collaborating with the community; and
Part III on the reasons that hinder parental engagement.
Majority of the respondents fall within the age bracket of 41 to 45 years old indicating a
predominantly female participant, with low-income bracket, and attained a high school
education or below. Parents of the kindergarten pupils in Balik Barangay Manibaug Pasig
Elementary School were enagaged in decision-making. Additionally, they were moderately
engaged in Parenting, Communicating, Volunteering, Learning at Home, and Collaborating with
the Community. Time Constraints and Socio-Economic Factors were the leading factors that
hinder parental engagement.
