Discipline: Teacher Training
Abstract:
The implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum in the Philippines has placed significant emphasis on scientific literacy, environmental awareness, and technological understanding in junior high science education. This study aimed to investigate the impact of teachers' training and support, classroom management strategies, and innovative teaching methods on the implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum. A quantitative survey design was employed to collect data from 425 junior high science teachers in the CALABARZON region. Descriptive correlational methods were used to analyze the data. The study found that teacher training and support, particularly in terms of professional development, had a positive impact on teacher perceptions. Classroom management strategies, such as the integration of activities, were widely used, while innovative teaching methods, especially differentiation and creativity, were valued by teachers. The study revealed significant relationships between teacher training and support, classroom management strategies, and innovative teaching methods. Based on these findings, a faculty learning program was proposed to enhance teacher effectiveness and improve student outcomes. The study recommends continued investment in professional development, increased access to technology, and a supportive school environment to facilitate the successful implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum.
