Records Management Practices And Organizational Performance In A Private University

Abstract:

In recent years, the importance of effective records management has gained significant attention in private universities. These institutions handle vast amounts of information and documents, making the ability to organize and manage this data becomes crucial for operational efficiency, compliance, and informed decision-making. This is why poor records management can lead to numerous problems, including disruptions in daily operations, data breaches, and challenges in academic research. This study investigates the records management practices and organizational performance of one private higher education institution. The study utilized an adapted questionnaire on a 4-point Likert scale. Data were collected through quota population sampling from all their administrative employees. Descriptive and correlation analyses were conducted using SPSS. The study found that respondents strongly agreed that records management practices are highly implemented in terms of record systems, monitoring, control, and preservation. Additionally, respondents strongly agreed that effective records management practices correlate to the organizational performance, particularly in terms of cost reduction, employee satisfaction, and innovation. The study concluded that there is a highly significant relationship between records management practices and organizational performance. The findings of the study can be used to develop strategies to further innovate records management practices and organizational performance in higher education institution.
