Abstract:
A major public health concern, hypertension affects more than 1 billion people worldwide and is a key contributor to cardiovascular illnesses. Because of their accessibility, knowledge of medicine, and ability to counsel patients, pharmacists especially those working in community settings are essential in the management of hypertension. The knowledge and abilities of pharmacists in managing hypertension, including clinical guidelines, medication management, illness education, care plan monitoring, and patient counseling, were evaluated in this descriptive study, which involved 70 in-person survey participants. The findings showed that pharmacists have good knowledge (75.24%) and strong drug management skills (77.05%). There are still gaps in illness management (69.46%), disease state education (65.89%), and care plan monitoring (66.67%), nevertheless. Furthermore, there is a need for improvement in general practice areas such medication adherence promotion (72.26%), non-pharmacologic hypertension treatment (70.57%), and patient counseling (68.07%). These results emphasize the necessity of focused interventions to improve pharmacists' proficiency in these domains in order to further improve the standard of care given to patients with hypertension.
