Abstract:

A feminist analysis of a feminist poet's collection, the oppression of women, and the alternatives.

During the past few years, the public has witnessed an exodus of Philippine women workers to different countries. Some have gone off to Japan to work as cultural dancers, some to Hong Kong to become domestic helpers; others have flown to meet their prospective husbands as "mail-order brides." This is a prevailing trend because many women believe that the money they will earn abroad is definitely more than they can ever hope to receive if they stay in the Philippines.
