Abstract:

The study aimed to determine the perceived Filipino traits influencing study habits in Secondary High School. The self-constructed survey questionnaires were used to gather data involving seventy Grade 10 students related to this study. The data was analyzed using Weighted Arithmetic Mean. The study determined the most common factors that affect study habits in terms of time management, learning environment, and student engagement, and the perceived influence of Filipino Traits on study habits in terms of bahala na mentality, mañana habit, and ningas kugon. The results of the study revealed that most students influence Filipino traits such as bahala na mentality, mañana habit, and ningas kugon. Based on the findings, procrastination can lead to students avoiding tasks and hindering their learning process. A valuing time, conducive environment, and engagement in class can enhance focus and engagement, while the phrases "mamaya na,” “bahala na,” and swiftly losing enthusiasm can lead to procrastination and difficulty doing tasks. Repeated use of this phrase can negatively impact learning productivity, causing students to lose interest and attention. Researchers have created a video blog to educate students on the adverse effects of Filipino traits on their study habits. The blog provides essential information, tips, scenes, and stories to help students understand and reduce the negative influence of these traits on their study habits.
