Abstract:

One hundred and fourteen Miriam College faculty members participated in a study aimed at: (1) getting the present profile of the faculty with respect to attitude toward student evaluation and (2) finding out if the Student Evaluation of the Learning Situation (SELS) scores are significantly correlated with this attitude. The Teacher Attitude Toward Evaluation by Students (TATES) was constructed and administered to the faculty members. The scores were correlated with the SELS scores.

Results revealed that Miriam faculty generally holds a positive attitude toward student evaluation and that there is no significant correlation between attitudes toward student evaluation and actual evaluation scores. These findings render support for the construct validation of the SELS.
