This paper reviews and summarizes the findings of studies on Filipino adolescents and education. The empirical research data presented will help youth ministers better understand the youth and their situation. This information will help rationalize programs, activities and other courses of action that should be taken in ministering to the youth. The writing of this paper was guided by the two main questions, which were provided by the CBCP. In discussing the relevant research findings, the paper hopes to provide a situation report on the academic performance of the youth and a data-based profile of the youth on selected personal characteristics and education-related aspects.
At the outset, it must be pointed out that most of the studies included in this paper focused on a broader number of research variables that are discussed here. This review summarizes only those findings that are relevant to the topic of education.
