Prevalence Of Rabies In The Third District Of Nueva Ecija: Basis For Public Awareness
Michael Bernardino
Discipline: health sciences (non-specific)
Abstract:
Rabies is a deadly but totally preventable virus that poses a serious threat to both humans and
animals. Although there are vaccines and health programs, getting rid of the problems remains
tough cause people are not really in the loop and the prevention stuff is not up to snuff. This study
aimed to determine how often rabies popped up in the Third District of Nueva Ecija between 2018
and 2022, to serve as a basis for enhancing and spreading the word and beefing up plans. The
study employed a quantitative descriptive research design, especially an ex-post facto method.
Data were gathered through official documents from the Provincial health office in Nueva Ecija
and the Department of Health, looking at stuff like rabies in humans, animal bites, vaccine
statistics, and how well people follow the PEP guidelines. Data were analyzed using frequency
distribution and trend analysis. The study covered areas within in the Third District, like
Cabanatuan City, and documented the number of people who got rabies or were bitten by animals,
using official health records to gather info. The results showed fluctuations in rabies and animal
bite cases over the past five years. There was a big drop in 2020, probably because of the
lockdowns and stuff that kept people away from animals
