Well-Being, Resilience, and Job Satisfaction Among Nurse Educators of Selected Universities and Colleges

Joseph A. Bermido

Discipline: nursing (non-specific)

Abstract:

Nurse educators play a vital role in higher education, yet limited research has examined how well-being and resilience influence their job satisfaction, creating a gap in understanding key factors that support professional sustainability. This study aimed to assess levels of well-being, resilience, and job satisfaction among nurse educators, to determine relationships among these variables and selected demographic factors, and to identify predictors of job satisfaction. Using a descriptive-correlational design, data were collected from 174 nurse educators in selected universities and colleges. Well-being, resilience, and job satisfaction were analyzed alongside selected demographic characteristics using statistical tools such as Pearson’s r correlation and Regression analysis. Findings showed that most nurse educators were aged 30-39 years, female, earned 24,060-48,120 pesos per month, were master's graduates, had less than 5 years of experience, and were employed full-time. Overall, respondents reported positive well-being, normal resilience, and job satisfaction. Significant relationships were found between: highest educational attainment and length of service with wellbeing; age and highest educational attainment with resilience; sex and length of service with job satisfaction; and among the three main variables of this study. Regression analysis showed that well-being and resilience can predict 34.3% of the variance in job satisfaction. This study concludes that well-being and resilience are key predictors of job satisfaction among nurse educators. Nine (9) focus areas were identified: stress management; continuing professional development; team-building; equitable employment; gender and development; streamlined processes; reward and recognition; and immersive leadership, which together provide a framework for enhancing nurse educator outcomes.
