Looking Ahead: Scanning Change Management and its Implications to Human Resource Management Practices

Abstract:

Oman’s vision for the coming decades is to raise the skill level and competencies of the Omani labour force. To achieve this goal, it is imperative to develop human resource management practices that are aligned with the values, beliefs and preferences of the Omani workforce but which support the vision of a high-skilled economy. This study aims to assess the Omanization program and its policies, to examine the change management of Omani employees in terms of wide-range strategic approaches, and to provide critical evaluations in public offices in terms of approaches to respond to the changing global needs and its implications to human resource management practices through qualitative- descriptive research method of analysis. The secondary data contributed to the change management literature by examining the cultural orientations of Omani employees and by linking them to their preferences of HRM policies and practices in a telecommunication setting. _e study reveals that the Omanization policies are introduced to tap human resource management development programs in various areas in both public and private sectors. Change management programs utilize strategic training as a distinct approach to capture desired strategic change frameworks in 2020. Recommendations in line with the drawn conclusions are also introduced in this study.
