Abstract:

This paper is a reflection on the changes taking place in Philippine psychology as a discipline and as a profession towards an LGBT-inclusive Philippine psychology. It maps out a vision of social change in the professional practice of Filipino psychologists and in the teaching of psychology in the Philippines. It proposes a Filipino LGBT psychology research agenda by discussing cultural specificity, intersectionality, positive psychology, action research, and multiple frameworks and methodologies as ideas for creating Filipino LGBT psychological knowledge. It looks at the growth of LGBT psychology in the Philippines and views it as a process of social change. It concludes with a call to all Filipino psychologists for affinity, care, and compassion towards people of diverse genders and sexualities.
