Discipline: Anthropology
For many lowland Filipinos, headhunts and peace pacts often bring to mind the Ilongots of Northern Luzon, a group of about 3,500 hunters and horticulturalists. Michelle Rosaldo focuses on such a group with a fresh outlook, thus inviting us to review our seeming familiarity with the Ilongot way of life. The book is based on data which she, along with her husband and fellow-anthropologist Renato Rosaldo, gathered during their stay with the Ilongots from 1967 to 1969 and again for about nine months in 1974.
