Political Integration in Historical Perspective

Carmencita T. Aguilar

Discipline: History, Political Science, Philippine History

Abstract:

This paper is not an attempt to explain the introduction or the dynamics of Islam in Southern Philippines nor the genealogy or order of succession of Muslim rulers but to present two political structures in Mindanao that provided the instruments for political integration during particular historical times, namely: the sultanates from 1450 to 1900 and the autonomous regional governments from 1979 to 1985.
