SMS Transmission via Wireless Fidelity Technology Using Symbian Mobile phone

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to develop a mobile application that would be able to send and receive Short Messaging Service (SMS) by using Symbian Mobile Phones particularly on S60 software platform with Symbian Operating System specifically on S60 3rd Edition FP1 (Featured Pack 1), S60 version number 3.1 and have the Symbian Operating System version number 9.2. The developed mobile application is to cater a free sending of Short Messaging Service (SMS) using Symbian Mobile Phones via local and with Internet connection through Wireless Fidelity Technology connection. This application is very beneficial for large business establishments, companies, and for the society, because this reduce fees to communication service providers. The Spiral Process model was used by the proponents for the project management and system construction. Ten evaluators were chosen for the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ten were requested to evaluate the functionality of the application. It is recommended that an indicator for identifying if there are new message should be integrated and to install greater storage for messaging area wherein the user can save and delete certain messages. Moreover, more number of characters to key in chat messaging during the transmission of message and specific details on creating an account must be included.
