Strengths and Weaknesses of using the Current Phone System of UIC as bases for Proposed VOIP

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the traditional PBX phone system of the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) in order to have a basis for a proposed Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology. This proposal will help the employees of the university to ease their job and to provide solutions in using the traditional PBX phone system with use of VoIP technology. The result of this study is very beneficial to the university in which they can lessen their expenses in setting up and maintaining a phone system. The proponents used evaluative research method Also, the proponents tested the VoIP technology in the university with the use of available requirements in setting up IP-PBX server for the phone system. Five program secretaries were interviewed to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the traditional phone system and five university employees were asked to evaluate the VoIP technology inside the university. The proponents recommended the use of VoIP technology to address problems attributable to the traditional phone system of the university.
