This paper presents the implementation of a computer controlled oxy-acetylenel plasma cutting table for mechatronic teaching. The design of the mechatronic system consists of three main components: the mechanical, electronic and software programming. The design of the mechanical set-up makes use of a linear ball screw- stepper motor application to control the x and y movements of the cutting torch. The electronic component is used to inte1face the stepper motor control with the computer while the software component controls the movement of the mechanical set-up. Test results revealed the performance of the x-y table for different shapes.
