Despite the copious literature on communication and media, the unending technological advancements, complex human communication behaviors, and the unprecedented nature of communities permit scholars to analyze communication in different contexts critically. This maiden publication of Talast´asan: A Philippines Journal of Communication and Media Studies is an open issue that features articles that attempt to irradiate issues on communication and its intersection to the field of health, public policy, disaster management, and digital technology. Moreover, this issue showcases a wide variety of subjects that offers newfangled approaches in theorizing, methodologies, designs, and their application to rich communication contexts.
