Layunin ng pag-aaral na ito na maipakilala si Efren Abueg hindi bilang isang kuwentista kundi bilang isang tagasalin sa mismong larangan o disiplina ng pagsasalin na madalas na ituring na marginalized. May tatlong bahagi ang pag-aaral na ito: 1) ang panayam kay Abueg kaugnay ng mga naging ideya, karanasan, at mga pangunahing konsiderasyon niya sa pagsasalin, 2) ang isang bahagi ng salin ni Abueg mula sa dula ni Williams, na A Streetcar Named Desire, at 3) ang isang bahagi ng pagsusuring isinagawa ng tagapanayam sa piling sipi ng salin ni Abueg na may pokus sa wika at kulturang kaugnay ng praktika ng pagsasalin.
The purpose of this study is to introduce Efren Abueg not as a fictionist but as an effective translator in the field or discipline that is usually considered marginalized. The study has three parts: 1) the highlights of an interview regarding his experiences and essential considerations that he takes into account when translating, 2) an excerpt of Abueg’s translation of the play by Williams entitled A Streetcar Named Desire, and 3) a sample analysis of a part of Abueg’s translation focusing on the language and culture involved in the practice of translation.
