Learning about the local history of a town can be done by looking through the old reports, documents and even memories that give details about its existence from foundation to the present. Adding to this, ruins of old structures could also give light on the town's and even the nation's history with the use of Archaeological methods and analyses which was done in understanding the significance of the Baluarte. The Baluarte is a stone structure found in Bgy. Lumang Bayan, San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro. It was used as a fortress and watchtower during the active slave-raiding years during the 1800's in the Tagalog Region. It also serves as a testament on how unfalteringly the local people protected their community even if they were prohibited to train and use weapons.
